Tour Description
Day 01
An early private bus ride to Huaypo Lake near Chinchero
brings us to the beginning of our mountain bike tour.
In the first section we cross the high plains of
Chinchero before reaching the impressive ruins at Moray.
(3,450m) The ruins are thought to have been a place
where the Incas carried out agricultural
experimentation, we will get a chance to visit the site
and then enjoy a tasty lunch. Towards the other side of
the Urumbamba Valley we can observe the “Cordillera
Vilcabamba” and Urumbamba snow capped peaks. A 10 km
descent then brings us to the Maras salt mines where
salt has been extracted since pre-Hispanic times. In the
afternoon as we take in the splendid views we head down
isolated tracks into the sacred valley of the Incas. A
bus ride to Machacancha baths then follows where we will
eat dinner and spend the night in tents, made ready by
the adventure team. There will be plenty of time to
enjoy a relaxing hot bath in the thermal waters before a
good nights rest.
